When gambling stops being fun but a person keeps playing it, it may begin to become a compulsive activity for these individuals. Initially, and continuously for many people, gambling starts as entertainment. Sometimes, it may even offer players the chance to win a little bit of money. The problem starts when people gamble away all their money and then they continue to keep playing. Perhaps they think they will be able to win their money back, but more often than not they are just addicted to the experience.
As gambling overrides any individuals other feelings of life activities, occasions and events, it becomes compulsive. There are often many consequences which could occur as a result of compulsive gambling which would hurt and hinder the life of the individual. As of this point in time, we do not know what it is exactly which causes compulsive gambling. Further research needs to be performed in order to help determine exactly what might cause the discrepancy between those who can gamble without self-sacrifice and those who gamble despite a plethora of negative consequences and effects.
However, many compulsive gamblers express the belief that their problems started after one big win, and then a continual string of the individual’s inability to win big again. They might even lose all of the money they won initially which drew them so closely to the sport of gambling.

Casino gambling has been growing in popularity, especially in recent years and supported heavily by the Internet industry. While the proper identification is necessary for entering an offline casino, such as those located in Las Vegas or Atlantic City, the World Wide Web is known for its ability to offer anonymity, even when it comes to online casino and gambling sites. So, is there really a legal age for gambling online?
Absolutely.
Casino gambling, online and off, is an adult entertainment activity. While some casinos allow gambling at the age of 18, there are far more which adhere to an age requirement of 21. It is very important, when gambling online, to first check the terms and conditions of the site in order to determine what the specific site considers the legal minimum age of players to be. Each casino may have a different age, so each casino will need to be individually investigated in order to find out their requirements.
If a player goes online in order to take place in a gambling environment without being of the proper age, they could a very big problem. For instance, if the individual tries to claim their money and cannot prove they are over the legal age, they will not be able to collect their prize and will be denied. Keep in mind, there are a number of free casino sites which offer no cash prizes – but plenty of practice for those who are underage and still looking for a place to learn more about the games offered at casinos.

There’s always some story floating around at school or work where a friend of a friend went to Atlantic City or Las Vegas – or maybe even an online casino – the point is, this friend of a friend was able to gamble and really win BIG and now they’re set for life. Could that really happen to you?
Many players have won a lot of money at casinos, both offline and online. Some players have even won millions of dollars through slot machine games and the like. However, the odds for this actually happening are fairly slim and the odds for winning some money – just not millions that would set you up for life – are much greater. In particular, Blackjack offers players a fair chance of winning money from the casino, as does Video Poker. While these games have decent odds of rewarding your skill and diligence with some cash, it is important to remember that as with any sport or game, you do need to typically be familiar with the topic in order to win.
Remember, in the short term, anyone can be a winner at an online casino! It just shouldn’t be a given that casinos will allow you a great deal of money – try to focus instead on the entertainment value of such games instead of banking on quick cash.

Online casinos may be operated from almost anywhere on the face of the earth – as long as they are powered and supplemented by, in terms of technology, a functioning server with internet access. While some countries exist which have outlawed online operated casinos, there are still a number of others which have encouraged such e-commerce entertainment, commercialism and behavior. Here are some more of the most popular geographic location for the licensing and operation of online casino gambling sites:
Costa Rica
Costa Rica is one of the world’s popular hosting destinations, but it is important to understand that the requirements of licensees in this area are fairly lax. Because of this, it is very important, in order to not be taken advantage of, that players do the appropriate research in ensuring a casino’s legitimacy prior to playing.
Malta
Part of the European Union, Malta offers an attractive tax rate to online gambling entrepreneurs and businesses. In Malta, many of the online casinos will definitely want to be licensed in Malta and adhere to their strict licensing rules because the gambling license would allow them to comply with UK gambling law.
Alderney
It is the Alderney Gambling Control Commission which is charged with regulating e-gambling on the part of the States of Alderney. As a result of the actions of the Commission, the government and the area ensures that online casinos and businesses are able to meet the high regulatory and supervisory standards which have been put in place. This is appealing to the players and online casino enthusiasts around the world and the cost of licensing in Alderney is discouraging to the less reputable online casino entrepreneurs.

It is possible for an online casino to be operated from virtually any place on the globe. All that is required, in terms of technology, is a functioning server with internet access. There are some countries which have outlawed online operated casinos, but still others which have encouraged such behavior. Here are some of the most popular sites for the licensing and operation of online casino gambling sites:
Gibraltar: This is a part of the United Kingdom and the operating rules for online casinos here are particularly stringent. There are not only operation standards which must be met, but the casinos need to prove that they are in a financial situation which allows them to operate. Primarily, this means they need to prove they are able to play individuals their winnings.
Canada: Licensing costs in this area can be high and, as with the legally operating casinos in Gibraltar, many of these casinos are reputable simply because of the standards imposed upon them; scam sites can’t afford the startup costs and meet regulations.
Australia: Australia is not one of the most popular online casino headquarter sites, but the government is involved in the licensing of such sites and the promotion of such. The licenses and operating procedures are strictly governed.
Antigua & Barbuda: These islands were some of the first jurisdictions to legalize and offer licenses for online casinos. As a result, many organizations got their start here.
Tomorrow, we will continue our investigation of some of the most popular headquarters for online casino gambling sites.

When you go to visit a brick-and-mortar, physically located casino, you know where you are playing. Many people prefer the glitz and glamour of gambling metropolises, such as Atlantic City and Las Vegas, but there are a number of casinos located in the mid-west and other areas as well. No matter what, people know where they are headed, where they are playing and where the casinos are situated. Players online are not as easily satisfied when it comes to location. The World Wide Web offers anonymity in a number of ways and it can be difficult to find out exactly where a particular online casino is headquartered.
Theoretically, an online casino can be operated from anywhere in the world. All they need is a functioning server with internet access. There are some countries which have outlawed online operated casinos, but still others which have encouraged such behavior. In order to operate online, casinos need to be licensed. They will need to be licensed from the country in which they are situated; the license allows them to legally operate. To appeal to consumers and prove their legitimacy, online casinos will show that they are licensed and often include the details of their licensing – such as in what country they are licensed to operate. This allows clients and potential clients to identify exactly where the casino is located. Additionally, many online casinos will also have information for contacting the casino. Addresses may be included in this information as well.

Online casino enthusiasts will notice a number of popular platforms for entertainment. The most popular of these are downloading the software from a casino, non-download programming using applets, of which Flash is particularly popular, and non-download programming using webcoding. Here is a look at these three popular platforms, as well as a synopsis of what makes them desirable and what potential disadvantages they may offer to players:
Downloading the software from a casino: This type of platform traditionally offers the player more in terms of aesthetics and entertainment value. There is often a higher selection of games, improved graphics and sound effects. Some addition benefits to this type of platform may include, depending on the casino, auto-play functions. Software may be downloaded from the casino site, although there are some which will send players CDs of their programming.
Non-download programming using applets (especially Flash): Applet non-download platforms such as Flash allow programmers to make things which are flush with animation and sound effects, making gaming a lot more interesting for many players. However, they often lack the additional benefits of downloadable software.
Non-download programming using webcoding: This type of platform is slowly but surely being replaced by non-downloading programming using applets. As a result, it can be more difficult to find, especially with a wide selection of games to play. However, the overall effect of this type of platform is similar to that which utilizes applets. It will often offer sound effects and animation, but does not always depending on the casino being visited.

Online casinos offer their games and entertainment primarily as one of three standardized forms. The options for play include downloading the software from a casino, non-download programming using applets, of which Flash is particularly popular, and non-download programming using webcoding. As the names of the last two options suggest, unlike the first, players who utilize these online casino entertainment options are not required to download any software programs in order to take part in the games.
Which option a player will choose is entirely up to them. There are a number of legitimate, honest and entertaining online casino gambling websites for each of the abovementioned platforms. Some of the larger casinos, understanding the concerns of their consumers and audience members, have even thought to offer more than one platform option to players. As a result, one large casino site can cater to the needs of individuals who prefer downloadable software, as well as to those who have reservations about downloading such software and who would prefer an alternative.
What type of platform do you enjoy using most and why does it appeal to you? Tomorrow, we will review these popular online casino platforms in order to determine the benefits and potential drawbacks of each, allowing beginner players and those unfamiliar with the platforms to get a better understanding of what each offers.

There are a number of gambling sites which seek to help individuals who want to control their spending at online casinos – but who may not have the willpower necessary to do so all on their own. For these individuals, there are gambling deposit limits or gambling spending limits. These limits make it easy for individuals to set a schedule for themselves regarding how much money they want to spend at an online casino and over what length a period of time. With these limits put in place, individuals won’t get carried away when it comes to the fun and excitement of online casinos – they will only spend as much as they had previously decided.
Most online casino sites will ask players how much they would like to set as their spending or gambling deposit limits early on (should an individual decide that they would, in fact, like to take advantage of this opportunity. There is no obligation to do so.), asking when the player signs up/creates their account on the website. Even if a player opts not to sign up for such a limit when they sign up on the site, this feature is accessible on most casinos whenever the individual is signed in to their account.
While most sites will let you decrease your limit fairly easily and quickly, it can take much longer for players to increase their limit once it has been site. However, this does depend on the particular site being utilized.
As a point of interest, the Harvard Medical School recently performed a study in which they found that gambling spending/deposit limits were effective to some extent, particularly when it came to identifying individuals who could eventually, or have the potential, to become problem gamblers. However, they were hard pressed to act as an incentive to cut short problem gambling behavior.

There are many casinos online. Many people have experienced the joy and excitement of winning money at these virtual establishments. Once the money is won, it goes to the account of the individual player. Many players will, at some point or another, want to withdraw their money, or ‘cash out’, from the casino. Once a person cashes out, they will need to wait for their money to arrive. Here are some general wait periods experienced by online casino winners:
Credit to Charge/Credit Cards: This return of money could take up to two weeks, depending on the cards and the casino.
Paper Check: Paper checks may take a month or more to arrive depending on the origin of the check. For example, it will take a long time for a check to arrive at your house when it is being mailed to you in the United States from another country.
Payment types vary depending on which option a player chooses and from which casino they are cashing out. However, players should be able to assess their options easily from the casino’s website, under methods of pay in the “Terms and Conditions” legal paperwork of the site.
In the event that you do not receive your money, it is important to contact the casino and inform them of this. Casinos will be more than willing to help you; however, they often need to check and verify that your money was not cleared and that you honestly never did receive it. Many people will try to scam online casinos by lying about receiving their money. While their investigation may tack on some additional wait time, online casinos do want you to have the money to which you are entitled and they will help you when you are in need.
